Application of Monel Alloy
Monel 400 alloy is a single phase solid solution with high strength. It is a kind of corrosion resistant
alloy with the largest amount, the widest application and excellent comprehensive performance.
This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas medium, and also
has excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated alkali solution. It is also resistant to corrosion
of neutral solution, water, seawater, atmosphere and organic compounds. An important feature of
the alloy is that it generally does not produce stress corrosion cracks and has good cutting performance.
WELDABILITY
Most conventional welding processes may be used to join 400 alloy to itself or to dissimilar metals. The choice
of process or of filler metal will be determined by the material(s) to be joined and by the end application.
In such instances it is recommended that the metal supplier be consulted for optimum welding procedures.
